Don Gentry  started this  business after working as a claim adjuster in Southern Illinois and his emphasis was always on providing efficient and quality claim service.  We still measure our success by our clients satisfaction with the performance of the financial products  and services we provide.

Our History:

Gentry-Couch, Inc. was founded by Don Gentry in 1960 when the ex-independent claims adjuster bought the McGonicgal Agency.  The McGonigal Agency’s origins go back to the early 1900’s in Carterville.  Tom Couch joined the agency in 1981 and purchased the agency in 1984.

There was a period from 1996 to 2000 when the agency became an insurance subsidiary of First National Bank, and then Old National Bank.  During this time we were known as First Insurance Group, and briefly as ONB Insurance Group.  Tom Couch remained with the agency during this time

This episode ended on July 1 2000, when  Tom Couch  bought the agency  back from Old National Bank.
